Myths About Drones

There is no denying that drones are becoming more and more popular all over the world. Not only do they provide fun, but they are used for business purposes too. From taking photographs to surveillance, there are many different industries that are making the most of drone technology. However, with popularity comes more gossip, and there is a lot of misinformation about drones out there today. So, with that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the common myths about drones out there.

All drones are the same – This is one of the biggest myths out there. In fact, this could not be further from the truth. There are so many different drones available for sale, and they differ dramatically in terms of their capabilities. How far can a drone fly will depend on the type of drone you purchase, for example. When you look at drones online, you will see their specification before making a purchase, so this will give you a greater understanding regarding the capability of that specific piece of tech.

You do not need to have any flying skill to operate a military drone – Another common myth is that you do not need to have any flying experience if you are to fly a drone in the military. This is not the case either.

Police need a warrant to follow your car with a drone – This is a myth that was born from the case of the United States v Jones. In this case, it was ruled that officers would generally need a warrant if they were to use a GPS device to follow a vehicle continuously for a long period of time. However, the Jones ruling does not necessarily limit how drones may be used for surveillance because drones do not need to be affixed to anything, which was what this ruling referred to.

Drones can only stay in the air for a short amount of time – In addition to the myths that have already been mentioned, a lot of people believe that drones can only be in the air for a short period of time before they need to be charged again. This is another myth. Technology has advanced dramatically, and so drones can now fly for hours and hours without needing to come back in. As referred to earlier, it does all depend on the type of drone you purchase as to the flying time offered.

As you can see, there are lots of different myths out there regarding drones today. Hopefully, you now feel like you know more regarding the facts. There is no denying that we are only going to see more and more of drones as the years plus. Plus, drone technology will get more advanced and we will be able to do more things than ever before with this sort of tech.
